Usually when making products, whether they before cleaning, entertainment, or saving lives, the inventors usually are in it for the profit. Sometimes they want to better people's lives or even change them but nothing's wrong with making some money along the way. There are many products that benefit people but they all come at a price. For example wi-fi benefits everyone who has it, but it comes at a price for the vendor to make a profit. The pros to making a product for profit really just benefit the vendor and the consumer. The vendor makes money and the consumer gets a product they really want. For example designer clothes, the consumer doesn't need designer, but they buy it anyways, and the vendor makes a profit. Not very many cons except for the wastefulness of the designer clothes industry to keep their products exclusive, and most likely the poor treatment of their workers. A product made to benefit others often comes from the good of people's hearts to make a difference. Clothes, specifically made for low-income children that is designed to grow with them, can be an example. Although it does cost money to buy the clothes the profit margin is much less than the one for designer clothes. But the vendor has made it easier for these low income children to have access to clothes.
